The crash occurred at 1:51 a.m. on Friday, April 8 on the 600 block of Windflower Court in the Morganville section of Marlboro, police said,.
Police arrived and found a white 2021Acura had crashed through the first floor of the residence and caused an approximate 10ft x10ft opening. The homeowners were uninjured and were able to safely exit the residence, police said.
Members of the Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene. They assisted with stabilizing the vehicle, removing the vehicle from the home and with shoring up the opening.
The residence was deemed uninhabitable by the Marlboro Township Building Inspector. JCP&L also responded to the scene and shut the power to the house.
The driver of the vehicle, a 41-year-old woman from Morganville, was examined by members of the Morganville First Aid Squad, but was not injured in the crash.
After an investigation by Patrolman Adam Levine, the driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated along with other motor vehicle offenses, police said.
There were no other occupants in the vehicle. After the driver was processed at police headquarters, she was then released.
Ptlm. Christopher VanCuren of the Marlboro Township Police Traffic and Safety Unit is handling the crash investigation.
All emergency personnel cleared the scene by approximately 3:55 a.m.
